BIG NEWS! Hitch Studio Celebrates Three Years with Expansion and Growth in Brookings SD

Hitch Studio will be celebrating its third anniversary with a grand re-opening and ribbon cutting ceremony as it expands into its new location at 414 Main Avenue. Owners, Renee Halgerson and Carrie Kuhl welcome all to attend Hitch Studio’s event on Monday, February 6th, 2017, to celebrate the growth of their business and the local Brookings community. The open house is from 4-6 p.m. and the ribbon cutting will begin at 5:15 p.m. Join us! We’ll have drinks, treats — and are showing off our new logo, new store, new hours and new mission statement for the party!

Halgerson and Kuhl are both eager for this opportunity to continue to support the Brookings business community, anticipate bringing new job opportunities with their expansion, and are thankful for the support of its residents.

Kuhl shared her gratitude stating, “After three years of having a business in Brookings, it’s easy for me to say there is absolutely nowhere else I could imagine starting our business. Brookings continues to be supportive and excited for us to grow and it wouldn’t be possible without this community.”

The past three years for Hitch Studio have been filled with success as the business received three grants that have allowed the store to fill a vacant building on Main Street, increase retail inventory, and create more job opportunities. Hitch Studio’s continued development merited the Dakota Rising Fellowship Grant, the Dakota Seeds Grant, and the Brookings Downtown Retail Grant. As Hitch supports aspiring, young SDSU students through internships and partners with local vendors, the owners truly value entrepreneurship and small business.

Halgerson says, “We’ve hired over 10 employees throughout our years at Hitch Studio and look forward to hiring more. We see such inspiring ideas come from students and eager residents of Brookings. We’ve also worked really hard to grow the connection with the Brookings community by giving back whenever we can. We love to support non-profits and donate our time and talent to organizations that mean a lot to us. In turn, we’ve had the opportunity for South Dakota’s grant programs to support us back, which has been such a blessing. We couldn’t have grown like we did without those grant programs. We’re so grateful.”

Hitch Studio’s new location will not only embrace its vision of “Connecting By Design”, but will give way to three distinct divisions within the business. These divisions include: Web + Design (graphic design and website designs), Paperie + Gifts (the gift shop full of stationery and thoughtful gifts), and Weddings + Invites (wedding decorating, event planning and wedding invitation design). The Paperie + Gifts division will be expanding to offer more lines including kid’s, men’s, and religious gift items. Hitch Studio also plans to launch a series of workshops for creative and personal growth in their new space.

Hitch Studio’s normal hours of operation are Monday – Friday from 10:00AM – 6:00PM, and Saturday from 10:00AM – 5:00PM. We’re excited to see you in our new space!
