Let’s start from the beginning of this story. Maggie + Tyson had been planning their luxurious black and white wedding at the Schade Vineyard in Volga, South Dakota, since March of 2022. Set for November 11, 2022, everyone knew about the possibility of bad weather that late in the fall, but with the wedding date being only a few weeks outside of Schade’s regular wedding season, they decided to host this amazing couple under the tent.
Starting with the clean, bright, white venue, the family + Hitch had plans to add greenery garlands, real candles + bistro lights, and dramatic all-black chairs + tables from Ideal Tent + Event Rentals. It was truly going to be one of the most amazing masterpiece weddings Hitch had styled yet!
The family was busy gathering custom gold flatware, extra heaters for the tent, their custom scented candles for every table, their white rose photobooth wall, head table backdrop, neon sign, and guest book, while Hitch got busy researching black resin chairs, a checkered dance floor, bistro lights, and working closely with the florist who could provide dozens of white roses. Months of work went by, and things were really coming together for this reception!
On a Sunday night, about six days before the wedding, Hitch received a call from Dillon, owner of Schade, about the weather being predicted for the weekend. With freezing temperatures and 50-60 mph wind gusts, we decided there was just no way guests could safely be under that tent for the wedding. So, now what?
Within an hour or two of the news, the Hitch team created a new game plan. Immediately we started looking into every possible open venue within a 20-mile radius that was similar to Schade. We wanted to make sure to have new venue options for Maggie + Tyson as soon as we gave them the news so that the situation felt more under control. We came up with three great options, and when we called the couple to tell them, they handled the news SO well. They trusted our decision, and were pleased to know they still had options. Hitch was DETERMINED to get these two married on November 11. Hitch gave them the task of calling and texting their guests with the new venue address, and we took care of the rest. We called the wedding vendors, coordinated all the last-minute plans with Midway Camp, right outside of Volga, South Dakota, (the new wedding venue and team of life savers!), coordinated new rental drop offs, made a new map of the venue, helped get new contracts signed, and so much more. It was a busy four days, but WOW did it pay off!
The transformation of the space and the smooth feel of the day was absolutely perfect. Without Hitch, this couple would have spent their precious wedding week scrambling to make new plans for their wedding and would have risked missing out on the true enjoyment of their wedding day. We are so honored to have been a part of Maggie + Tyson’s wedding day. From their custom scented candles, to their polaroid photo guest book, to their 8-foot grazing table, it was a magical place to be that night.
