We travelled to the Sturgis/Deadwood area this weekend for the most special, heartfelt, and tear-worthy wedding. I had the honor of officiating for the coupe and their three children. And when you’re on that side of the ceremony, you get to see tears that nobody else sees. You feel emotion that no other vendor or guest feels up close. Erica and Micky made it a point to include their children in each part of the day as the perfect family of five. They read vows to each other — and to each other’s children. They cut the cake — and invited their children to help. They had their first dance — and the children joined halfway through. It was truly a love meant for all five family members.
The ceremony and reception were held at Muley Hill Lodge near Sturgis, South Dakota. Hitch Studio traveled across the state to coordinate and decorate their wedding. It was so much fun! Muley Hill is the most charming venue — with ponds and fields of donkeys and ponies, to original barns and hayrides. It is a gem.
We set up the reception with two settees at the head table (one for Erica and Micky and one for the three kids). We decorate the tables with white and eucalyptus green and candles. Simple and perfect! The gold chargers accented the table even more with their gold-rimmed dishes and flatware.
The outdoor ceremony was decorated with greenery and held just outside the barn, near the pond. The benches held their 50+ guests perfectly and the photo ops were endless as they left to take portraits. Since the couple was from Canada and this was their destination wedding, Hitch Studio was thrilled to be able to set up all the decorations and take them all down at the end of the evening FOR THEM. That way, traveling guests didn’t have to work at all. Everyone just got to show up and enjoy the day — the way a wedding day is supposed to feel!
The food, cake and cupcakes were amazing! Every vendor came together to make this wedding as amazing as the couple themselves.
From the Bride, Erica: We just got back into Canada last night and finally have a second to just breath and relive everything. We had a carful of tears on our way home yesterday as we left. “I just don’t want it to end Mom”- Scarlett. 😢
I still haven’t found the words to express how much we appreciated you and your team. The day was absolutely perfect- beyond perfect. You are such an amazing person- you’re so calm, patient and kind. It was noticed by so many of our guests and family. The work you did was stunning and utterly amazing! I’m still blown away at how it all came together.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Renee for all that you did! I still get emotional thinking about the entire journey and knowing that it’s come to an end. But, also so excited to start a new chapter as Mr. and Mrs. Grimes! ❤️
