Destination Wedding in California for Hitch Studio!

Happy 1-month anniversary, Clay and Kristin! You’re one month into your lifetime of love and marriage and I’m still so thrilled for you! I LOVED your wedding day!!

Thank you for choosing Hitch Studio for your destination wedding in Coronado, California. It was wonderfully challenging to plan your wedding from a distance — and for both of us!

Clay and Kristin live in Phoenix, Arizona and Hitch Studio is located in Brookings, South Dakota, so finding vendors like cake, hair + makeup artists, catering, videography, DJ, flowers, venue, officiant, and more was a fun task.

I started the process by finding 3-5 options in each category as my “top picks” based on Google searches, WeddingWire reviews, and packages/pricing. I sent my top picks for each vendor to Clay and Kristin and they chose their favorites! We all made one trip to Coronado in October (before their wedding in February) to do all the vendor visits and tastings — and it was such a success! We found all the vendors in one weekend.

With vendors found, all the wedding day details could come together in the next few months. The venue was an easy choice. Clay’s grandmother owned a condominium on the 10th floor between the ocean and Glorietta Bay. She would watch the wedding ceremonies that happened at Coronado Community Center promonade from her balcony and smile. She has recently passed away, so the choice was easy for Clay. He wanted to get married on the same lawn that his grandmother knew and loved so she could watch *their* vows and smile down from heaven. So that’s what we chose — the Coronado Community Center Nautilus Room for the reception and Promenade for the ceremony.

p.s. Clay, I don’t know if you know this, but during your vows, I turned around and took a picture of where your grandmother would be watching from and snapped this photo. She was definitely beaming with joy.

For food, Clay and Kristin chose a really fun mac & cheese bar with a street taco station. The photo booth was a fun addition to the reception, the DJ was amazing to work with, and every detail of their wedding went smoothly!

The flowers. Let’s not forget about these flowers! We used all 10 centerpieces in two ways: First, we used them down the aisle as fresh flowers lining the rows of chairs and then we used them on top of each centerpiece inside! We used their round archway of flowers outdoors at the ceremony and then again indoors behind their head table. What a great way to make the most of their GORGEOUS flowers! And a special touch…Clay’s mothers’ favorite flower was a yellow rose. Throughout the flower arrangements, there were little yellow roses tucked in. Such a sweet memorial to her.

Kristin wanted a very princess-like themed wedding with flowers and sparkle and Tiffany blue. To make sure the Tiffany statement came through, we gathered her napkins in bows with sparkle bands at each place setting. And of course, had Tiffany boxes full of fun favors at each place setting with silver chargers.

What else was Tiffany blue? The linens, the sprinkles on their cupcakes, the drizzle on their chocolate covered strawberries, the bridemaids’ dresses, and more. It was sooooo pretty!

The venue didn’t allow sparklers of any kind, so we got creative and ordered glow wands for their grand exit!

Clay and Kristin, was an honor and privilege it was to help plan and coordinate your destination wedding. I hope Hitch Studio helped make the process less stressful, more enjoyable, and not so overwhelming.

Renee is extremely professional and always available when you needed her. She made sure every detail was taken care of (even details I never would have thought about). EVERYTHING was so much easier and made wedding planning not as stressful. We couldn’t have done it without her and the entire day went so smooth and beautiful. You are amazing at what you do. Thank you so much… we are SO thankful for you!!!

Kristin and Clay, I think everyone can agree that your wedding was beyond beautiful. Kristin, YOU were beyond beautiful! Clay had a surprise planned too that was a first for me…a sand castle built for Kristin! Yeah…I don’t do much sand castle planning in South Dakota. Haha! He hired a world-renowned sand castle artist to make it! Ahhh…all these special details…I hope you loved your destination wedding by Hitch Studio!
