How to Make Your Tent Wedding More Intimate

Are you planning to celebrate your wedding under a tent? Do you want to know how to make your tent wedding more intimate for you and your guests? We have some helpful tips for you while you start piecing together your day!

Tents can be so big, but they can also be the perfect blank slate for any style of wedding. Hitch is partnered with Schade Vineyard & Winery in Volga, SD to manage their wedding venue – a beautiful 7,000 square foot white tent overlooking an active vineyard with restrooms, bridal suites, and even lodging right on site. We have gained lots of tips and tricks over the last 3 years working with Schade, and we are so ready to share them with you!

Tips for Bringing Down a Ceiling:

  1. Adding low hanging lights or chandeliers to your ceiling is a fantastic and budget friendly way to bring that tall ceiling down and close in the area around your guests. There are so many different types of lights you can use according to your style and wedding color pallet!
  2. Adding fabric or draping can also be a great way to add color or soften the atmosphere of your wedding. We recommend combining the drape + some lights to really give your tent a formal and warm look.
  3. Installing greenery around the perimeter or ceiling of the tent can also give you that cozy feel and can also showcase a focal point over a dance floor or head table. If amazing florals are one of your top wedding priorities, this option would be really great for you! We know florals can be a little more expensive than the other two options, but SO worth it!
  4. Using up-lighting around the perimeter of the tent (if your tent has walls) can be a great option for adding color to the white space. It subtly keeps your guests’ eyes around the room and their attention away from the high ceiling. Ask your DJ or decorating team if this is an option! They would love to help find the perfect accent color to your decorations.

From their big dreams of getting married in a white tent to their floral inspiration, Loree + Collin had their minds made up that they were going to make this the wedding they had always imagined. Although they had a large and helpful group of family and friends, they knew they couldn’t do this alone. The couple knew they needed someone local with extensive knowledge of the venue and other wedding professionals in the area who could pull off the amazing reception. They sure found the dream team!

The second I saw their Pinterest board I just knew this was going to be a wedding for the books.

Hitch immediately got started working with Sarah Nelson, owner of Blomst Floral Co., to begin planning the logistics for an EPIC tent installation of fresh greenery, along with bistro lights and rattan lanterns. We know how many moving parts there are to weddings, and how important it is to make sure all parties are up to speed on each other’s roles. That is why Hitch loves to coordinate the details between Loree + Collin and the other professionals!

We were so in love at how intimate the whole reception felt. They wanted to incorporate colored napkins, chair sashes, greenery, custom lights, and a dance floor to their tent. We want you to know that there are so many ways to truly utilize your venue in the best ways. Picking a blank space doesn’t have to mean spending your entire budget to add the colors and style you want. It could be as simple as adding some bistro lights or a dance floor.

Hitch would love to help you style and coordinate your intimate wedding and keep it within your budget! Reach out to us today at info@hitchstudio.com! We are waiting to help you get planning!

We want to sincerely thank these amazing vendors for all their support and expertise for Loree + Collin’s big day!
