Your décor is where your vintage look can really shine! Think of ornate serving platters, Victorian vases, and candelabras. All these touches radiate romance. We spoke with Nicole and Matt Gappa, owners of Prairie Lane Vintage Rentals in Sioux Falls, SD, about the impact of incorporating some elegant items into your events.

“What I love about vintage style events is that they are built on memories and traditions that are significant to the guest of honor. Whether you are planning a romantic soiree, bohemian bridal shower, or a modern wedding, vintage decor can create a special connection between you and your guests. The thoughtfully styled details will create an ambiance that shares your story of love, family, and friendship with everyone.”

Wedding Dress

Wedding dress shopping gets easier when you’re sticking to a theme. If you’re truly looking for an authentic vintage wedding dress, there are many online retailers as well as boutiques that you can check out (also consider asking family—nothing would mean more than for your Grandma than watching you walk down the aisle in her dress). Brand new bridal gowns can have vintage inspired looks as well (and are typically constructed better than a gown from the past). Just make sure to speak with your consultant about your specific wants! Classic, simple beading or lace sleeves with an A-line silhouette are features that can bring in your vintage look.

Groom’s Outfit

You really don’t need to ask your groom to have entirely vintage attire. However, there are easy ways to style his look by adding details like a waistcoat, suspenders, pocket watch, bow tie, or a vintage hat. Materials of the era can tie in your style as well like tweeds, houndstooth, plaid or velvet.

Accessories

Accessories are such a fun way to detail your look vintage look! Many antique stores carry jewelry and accent pieces that would be perfect for upping your bridal attire. For instance, a birdcage veil or some adorable peep toe mary janes are fantastic additions to a vintage wedding gown.

Transport

The perfect transport for such a wedding is a vintage car. No matter what color and logo it has, the most important is that it suits your wedding theme. A vintage car can also serve as great place for photos. Looking to transport the whole wedding party? Renting a trolley would be a fantastic way to get everyone from point A to point B in style. We recommend Vintage Occasions in Sioux Falls, South Dakota!

Palette

While choosing the color palette for your wedding, stick to subtle colors and jewel tones. Dusty reds, emerald green, and tranquil blues all look very elegant. Golds, blush pinks, and pops of bright floral can add to the fun. Still undecided on your color pallet? Hitch can help! We have all the latest color trends and knowledge to bring your vision to life. We can also out together some great wedding decoration examples for display, come in and chat with us about it!
