A Perfect Day on the Farm
What could be more perfect than celebrating your special day with your favorite people in one of your favorite places? That’s exactly what Hannah and Stewart experienced during their September wedding last fall. Both raised in rural South Dakota, the couple returned to Hannah’s family farm for a wedding that would bring together loved ones from near and far to celebrate their love.
The Ceremony
Held in the front yard beneath the shade of towering evergreen oak trees, the ceremony was beautifully set with large ceramic vases and lush floral arrangements. The bridal party stood out in elegant black gowns and suits, while the groom, in a white suit jacket, made a striking contrast. The Reception
The reception took place in a machine shed, featuring white walls and concrete floors, with a stunning focal point: an airplane hangar window. This window allowed natural light to flood the space during dinner and transitioned seamlessly into the evening as the dance began. The sweetheart table, placed in behind of the checkered dance floor and in front of the large window, was the perfect addition to the reception’s charm.
Enhancing the Reception
Transforming a blank canvas into a wedding wonderland is all about adding personal touches and thoughtful enhancements. For Hannah and Stewart, this space became a beautiful blend of elegance, vintage style, and timeless appeal, with a chic black-and-white color scheme.

Checkered Dance Floor: Provided from IDEAL Tent and Event Rentals , this bold design added the perfect touch to the reception. The dance floor was packed all night, creating a lively atmosphere.
Disco Balls from Party Depot : Suspended above the dance floor, the disco balls sparkled in the natural light during the day and transitioned perfectly into a fun, late-night celebration.
Bistro Lights: Hung from the ceiling, the bistro lights added a warm, cozy feel to the industrial building, creating an inviting atmosphere.
Black Chairs from IDEAL Tent and Event Rentals: These sleek chairs complemented the black-and-white theme beautifully, creating a polished look throughout the space.
Letter Lights: Displaying the couple’s names, these lights turned a simple wall into a stunning accent and made for the perfect photo backdrop.
Details we Loved:
Personalized Wedding Scented Candles: The couple designed these candles together, providing a cozy vibe for each table. They smelled amazing and made for a delightful takeaway gift.
Postcard Thank You Cards: Each place setting featured a postcard from the city wehre the couple now resides, along with a personalized message. Guests loved the unique and thoughtful touch.
Signature Cocktails: The couple chose their own signature cocktails, served with napkins featuring a cute image of their dog—such a personal and fun detail!
Voicemail Guestbook: This creative twist on the traditional guestbook allowed guests to leave heartfelt voice messages for the newlyweds, capturing real excitement and love.
Grand Confetti Exit: As the ceremony ended, confetti poppers were launched from both sides, while guests tossed confetti in celebration. The photos from this moment were stunning.
Local Charm with a Grand Feel
One of our favorite aspects of this wedding was how it blended the feel of a grand celebration with the warmth and charm of a rural setting. While the event had all the elegance and sophistication of a large city wedding, it remained deeply connected to the couple’s roots.
