You know when you receive that hand-lettered envelope or wedding invitation that makes you want to hold onto it a little longer than most others? That beautiful hand-crafted art? That’s what we’re in love with!
We’d like to introduce you to a calligrapher that Hitch Studio works with. Her name is Jamie Morin of Jamie Morin Designs — and she is REALLY talented. Let’s meet her…
About Jamie
I claim that I have been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil, and that love is what drove me to pursue my Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and Master of Architecture. As I pursued my career though, I found that all of my work was done on the computer and I really missed doing things by hand, which inspired me to learn calligraphy. I’ve studied the art through in-person workshops, online classes, and even a 6-week course at the Smithsonian Museum while my husband and I were living in DC. Calligraphy has really become an obsession for me and is something that I am constantly practicing and improving upon.
A few fun facts about me
- I grew up in the Midwest, but have moved cross country several times now following both career and educational opportunities. I’ve hiked mountains while living in the Seattle area, experienced some great food and culture while in Washington, DC, and am now living the slower “beach-life” along the Gulf Coast of Florida.
- My life seems to have come full circle as I now work remotely, part-time for the Brookings-based architecture firm, ID8! In fact, my boss, Angie, was actually the photographer for my wedding!
- My husband and I are full of crazy dreams, some recent ones being selling all of our belongings to travel across the US in an RV, or hopping the pond and living abroad (we like to shop for castles on European real estate websites).
Why hire a calligrapher for your wedding stationary?
The invitation is the first impression of your wedding that your guests will receive, and you want to make an impact. Using script fonts can make a beautiful invitation, but a calligrapher will be able to bring it to the next level and make your invitation suite a piece of art! There are a variety of areas where calligraphy can be used for your wedding, from the invitations, to programs, place cards, menus and more. In my experience, the number one thing people want to see written in calligraphy is their own name, so having a calligrapher address your envelopes or place cards will really show your guests that they are an important part of your big day!
My services
I would love to put both my calligraphy and drawing skills to work to make your wedding paper goods extra special. Whether addressing envelopes, writing your names for your invitation, creating a custom monogram, or drawing a floral illustration to use throughout your suite, the sky is the limit. Let Hitch Studio know you are interested and we can begin discussing your ideas for wedding invitations!
Jamie can do your hand-lettering and send us at Hitch Studio the digital files to use on your wedding invitations printed locally in Brookings, South Dakota! Find her on Instagram too. And then check out this beautiful work of hers. We can’t wait to show you her most recent work for Hitch Studio — coming after August 5th!
