Hitch Studio currently has 31 employees! Five years ago, we started with two — Carrie Kuhl and Renee Halgerson (now Renee Bauman). How we’ve grown! Our most recent part-time hires include Lyndsey Anderson and Mackenzie Schmidt. They both work in our retail store on Main Street of Brookings, South Dakota. We hope their warm smiles make your shopping experience more enjoyable! We’re happy to have them as part of our Hitch family!
It is my pleasure to introduce both of them in this week’s blog:
I’m Lyndsey Anderson, and I’ve been working at Hitch as a part time Retail Associate since June 2018! I live here in Brookings with my husband Matt, our son Bryden, our dog Scout, and soon-to-be daughter (name yet to be determined!) I graduated from South Dakota State University with degrees in Marketing and Public Relations in 2012 and have worked fulltime for Daktronics in various roles ever since! I love to travel and have been to 42 states in the US and 9 different countries so far! I also love to try new things and am always up for a challenge… which is partly what lead me to working at Hitch.
After taking a new position at Daktronics in engineering, with much less travel than I had previously, I decided I wanted a part time job in town where I could connect with more people and use more of my creativity. As I was looking, I ran across an ad that Renee was promoting for Hitch and didn’t think twice about expressing my interest! I’m so happy I did, I love being able to work in the store and assist with the most beautiful weddings! I also LOVE that I’ve been able to form some amazing relationships with all the ladies who work at Hitch and the other small business owners that share our space.
If you’re ever in the store on a Saturday while I’m working, don’t be shy! I am always happy to give you a recommendation or help in whatever way I can to make sure your experience with Hitch is the best it can be!
Hey everyone! I’m Mackenzie, and I am so glad that you took a few moments out of your day to learn a little about me, one of the newest members of the Hitch Studio team.
I grew up in a small town just outside of Sioux Falls. I am currently a senior at South Dakota State University, and I will be graduating this May. My major is Interdisciplinary Studies and my two minors are in Human Development and Family Studies and Events and Facilities Administration (this second minor is where Hitch originally came into my life). This may seem like an odd combination to you, and it is, but throughout my time at SDSU I have had a total of 7 different majors so I have credits in pretty much anything you can think of. However, I am happy to say that each of those majors has helped me discover where my passions are, and I have settled in on a major that will help me achieve my goals and use those passions. My dream is to someday be an event or wedding planner and, eventually, own my own business doing so.
I originally started working at Hitch this past May; I was hired onto the team by Renee as a wedding associate. Since then, I have been a part of quite a few beautiful Hitch weddings and events. I loved the environment here, and I appreciated how comfortable I felt to learn, laugh, and make mistakes. This is where I really discovered my love for the wedding industry. A few months ago, Renee, Taylor, and I began to discuss plans of me getting involved in the retail side of Hitch Studio in addition to the wedding side, and (of course) I was beyond excited to have the opportunity!
I cannot wait to see how much I will learn on my new journey here at Hitch and feel so fortunate to be working for such driven, passionate women. Thanks for reading!
