When we think back on Mitzi and Evan’s August wedding, one word comes to mind immediately: FAMILY. From the moment guests began arriving, many of them traveling long distances, you could feel the love and support surrounding these two. Their entire day at Old Sanctuary in Brookings felt like one big, joyful family reunion wrapped in soft florals and candlelight.
Mitzi and Evan chose Hitch Studio’s 3 Carat package, which meant our team took care of all the decorating, timeline management, and behind-the-scenes details from morning until the very last moment of the night. Their only job? Be present, soak it in, and celebrate with the people they love most.
A Bilingual Ceremony Filled With Meaning
One of the most beautiful parts of their day was the ceremony itself. Mitzi’s family is Spanish-speaking, so it was incredibly important to the couple that every loved one could fully understand and *feel* their vows and the significance of the moment.
And we had the perfect solution: **Hitch Studio’s own bilingual officiant, Karen Eidem**.
Karen officiated the ceremony in both English and Spanish, creating a heartfelt, inclusive experience for everyone in the room. She shared this reflection about the day:
“As a bilingual officiant for Hitch Studio, I had the joy of celebrating Evan and Mitzi’s wedding in both English and Spanish. Offering bilingual officiating services brings a deeper sense of connection to the ceremony; it not only makes the experience more personal but also ensures that family members who speak only one language feel included and valued. This inclusivity allows everyone to fully participate in the celebration, creating a shared moment of unity. Beyond accessibility, bilingual ceremonies also honor the rich cultural heritage carried within each language, adding depth, meaning, and authenticity to the wedding day.”
It was truly a highlight—full of emotion, joy, and unity.
Romantic Florals + A Dreamy Ceremony Setup
Old Sanctuary’s spacious, open layout gave us a blank canvas to transform for rehearsal, ceremony, and reception—all in one location. We handled each transition so the couple and their families could stay present and savor the day.
Mitzi envisioned a romantic, floral-filled atmosphere with pink, blush, and white tones. Flowers on Main created the most stunning bouquets for the bride and bridesmaids, setting the tone perfectly.
The ceremony featured:
– Soft candlelight lining the aisle
– Lush floral arrangements
– A gold hexagon arch (one of our most-loved rentals!) adorned with florals
This arch not only framed their vows beautifully, but later became a glowing reception backdrop featuring a personalized LED sign from the couple. Big impact, minimal cost – one of our favorite combos!
Thoughtful Touches Throughout the Space
Inside the reception setup, centerpieces included with Hitch’s packages filled the room with a warm, romantic glow. We mixed tall statement florals with bud vases and plenty of candles to create a soft ambiance throughout Old Sanctuary.
Mitzi and Evan also rented our backdrop wall strung with bistro lights, a gorgeous way to create a cohesive look and hide features they didn’t want visible. It added charm, warmth, and the perfect amount of sparkle.
A few more Hitch rentals made special appearances:
– Their cake perched beautifully on our white pedestal.
– A welcome sign displayed on our easel!
– Large Black Lanterns flanking the aisle.
– Our florals incorporated into a custom photo backdrop featuring the couple’s LED “You + Me” sign and a floral wall crafted by family!
– Rose Gold Chargers added a touch of elegance to each place setting.
A Seamless, Stress-Free Celebration
To keep the day effortless for their families, Mitzi and Evan chose additional services including entrance draping, Hitch ushers greeting guests and guiding them to seats, and Polaroid guest book photos that guests had so much fun with.
Old Sanctuary provides tables and chairs, with an option to rent linens directly from them, keeping venue costs affordable. Families handle post-event cleanup but if couples prefer not to have loved ones bussing tables during the reception, Hitch Studios can take care of that for just $2.50/guest.
During the ceremony-to-reception flip, our team worked quickly to reset the entire room. The raised stage became the perfect home for the head table and DJ beautifully hidden during the ceremony behind the backdrop mentioned earlier.
A Beautiful Day Filled With Love
Mitzi and Evan’s wedding day was the perfect blend of romantic florals, meaningful bilingual moments, and heartfelt family connections. We loved bringing their vision to life and are so honored to have been part of their celebration at Old Sanctuary.
