Brett + Miranda have been together for 8+ years. Both families are from the Sioux Falls area and they met while working together at a restaurant. After a long awaited 8 years, their families and friends were ready to celebrate this couple! Planning with Miranda, her mom and mother-in-law was a blast! Our meetings never concluded without rolls of laughter! Miranda had a beautiful vision and designing and planning with her was a dream!
The festivities began the night before in downtown Sioux Falls at the sweetest venue – The Convolo. They had the cutest photo op setup along with elegant décor to match their wedding colors and style. Guests were dressed to impress, and the drinks were plenty. The bride had her mom’s wedding gown made into the cutest cocktail dress, which she wore for the rehearsal dinner (cue the tears!!) Hitch was onsite to walk through the ceremony details with the wedding party, before dinner of Caesar Salad and Pasta from Johnny Carino’s (yum!). A perfect way to set the tone for the wedding weekend!
The weather could not have been more perfect for a June 1st wedding! Starting the day with a cloudy morning (no rain though!), with a light breeze and the sun coming out during the ceremony, cooling off slightly, creating a perfect summer evening. The Veranda at Meadow Barns was set for both ceremony and reception and nothing short of impressive. The ceremony site was perfection with the chairs on concrete, surrounded by grass, trees, and the creek with flowing water, allowing for a perfect backdrop of nature! The reception space is a unique combination of indoors and outdoors; rustic barn wood walls, elegant lighting, concrete floor, open windows and doors for fresh air and sunlight but still covered from summer weather. Air-conditioned restrooms and small kitchen area with a full-service bar onsite! The outdoor patio with options of standing and seated area is perfect for social hour and yard games.
The girls kicked off the day bright and early with hair and make-up by Veronica and McKenzye in the spacious and elegant bridal suite in the upstairs of The Veranda; overlooking the reception space as Hitch Studio began decorating! Alissa from Belle Mariee arrived with the most beautiful 9’ rose and babies breath garland for the pergola – WOW did this add elegance to the ceremony! She also provided live stems of babies breath that Hitch used in each centerpiece, which enhanced the elegance to another level!
The couple had a friend officiate the ceremony, which made it so personal! They chose to put items into a time capsule for their unity ceremony; including personal letters to each other to read on their anniversary! The wedding party took off on a party bus, after being sent off with a bubble exit by their guests. During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed the summer weather on the patio with yard games and signature drinks – The Finn (Old Fashioned), The Ella (Raspberry Mojito) and the Grevlos (Spicy Margarita). Jamal with Sieff Style Entertainment welcome the wedding party back and kept the evening moving along in his fun and energetic style from grand entrance to desserts, speeches and getting the dance started! The couple snuck away for some beautiful sunset photos with Rachael and an outfit change, just in time to be welcomed back in with a lantern-lit tunnel!

10 fun and helpful tips to ensure a smooth and memorable outdoor wedding:
Having a wedding reception at an outdoor venue allows guests to enjoy fresh air and the beauty of nature, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, encouraging mingling and conversation among guests! A venue like this, combines the best of both worlds and allows guests to relish in the serene outdoor ambiance while being shielded from the summer elements. Although, the outdoors is beautiful, there can be concerns when it comes to weddings. Miranda + Brett were sure to consider their outdoor venue when planning the details of their day.
- Design your table décor to withstand potential wind (or let Hitch Studio do this for you with our FREE décor collection!)
- Choose a napkin fold that will stay in place (we love South Dakota wind!)
- Open the bar prior to the ceremony so guests have a COLD beverage while in the sun
- Provide outdoor activities for guests during social hour
- Have a seating chart to ensure everyone has a seat with guests they know
- Select snack items that are heat-resistance and able to withstand the summer sun
- Wait to set desserts out until after dinner to avoid melting and bugs
- Have an outfit change for the bride + groom to stay cool and comfortable
- Incorporate a late-night photo op with sparklers or battery-operated lanterns
- Serve Pizza to the late-night partiers!
