A Minnesota Lakeside Celebration

Some weddings are so full of charm that you can feel it in every step — and Gretta and Drew’s Minnesota lake wedding at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa, Minnesota was exactly that! Was it a 5-hour drive from our main Hitch Studio location in Brookings, South Dakota? Yes. Did we love the road trip? Also YES! It was a destination wedding for sure! When we arrived, we just had to walk around the resort, checking out the shoreline of cabins, the cantina (of course), and their ceremony and reception locations (all within walking distance). We LOVED this wedding! Grand View Lodge was so pretty, but mostly because of the couple. Gretta and Drew were SO great to work with!!

The Ceremony: Lakeside Elegance

Gretta and Drew chose to exchange vows on the grand staircase at Grand View Lodge, lined with vibrant flowers, lush greenery, and a beautiful arbor designed by their florist. With the lake shimmering in the background and guests being greeted with champagne and water as they arrived, it felt elegant and special before the ceremony even began. Every guest felt taken care of.

Before the ceremony, during photos, they had a guest appearance…their dog, Piper! They were the cutest photos!! And even had a “Piper’s Bar” sign at the reception!

Cocktail Hour at Grand View Lodge

Following their vows, guests gathered for cocktail hour on the lawn beside the grand staircase, with a peaceful waterfall beside them. While guests sipped cocktails and enjoyed the view, the wedding planners from Hitch Studio (can we be considered Minnesota wedding planners now?!) worked behind the scenes to transition all the ceremony décor, linens, and guest book into the reception space. When the time was right, we also asked guests to take the shuttle or take the beautiful walk over to the reception awaiting them! We were so excited for them to see the dinner space!

The Reception: Champagne Textures & Candlelight

Earlier that day, Hitch Studio had styled the reception with custom champagne-textured linens (thank you, Linen Effects!), gold chargers, personalized menu cards, and soft candlelight. The florist added fresh wildflowers to the tables and the ceiling was perfectly designed with fabric and lights (thank you, Dee and Gwen!)

One of our favorite details was the seating chart built in-the-round with a large flower arrangement in the middle. Instead of a large board, each guest received a folded card featuring their name, meal choice, and table number — a thoughtful and practical design that made the evening flow effortlessly. It was such a statement piece in the lobby of Grand View Lodge!

Blush pink, champagne, and wildflowers

From start to finish, Gretta and Drew’s Grand View Lodge wedding was filled with joy, beauty, and personal touches. Even the wedding invitations (a guest’s first impression of what to expect at your wedding) were printed on cotton paper, layered with wildflowers, and wrapped with a champagne ribbon and blush pink wax seal. Each envelope was printed with the guest address and the couple’s return address, so it was elegant and polished from the beginning. Their menu cards, table numbers, seating chart name cards, and programs matched too! Hitch Studio designed them all!
