Emily and Tucker…could your wedding day have been more perfect?! With a forecast of rain, we did some quick rearranging and still pulled off an outdoor wedding of their dreams!
They chose McCrory Gardens in Brookings, South Dakota for a ceremony and reception venue. It’s one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the state and was a gorgeous backdrop to their amazing wedding day.
The original plan was to have their wedding in the arboretum trees, tucked back away from the main building. Before we set up any white ceremony chairs, we made the rain call — and decided to rent some patio heaters and move the ceremony closer to the main building for comfort and warmth! It turned out so perfectly! And it never rained! The second step we took for rain precautions was moving the reception indoors. It was supposed to be on the Terrace Garden lawn, but with pending rain and cooler weather, we quickly set up indoors instead. It was cozy and memorable — just the way a wedding should be. <3
While social hour and dinner were happening on the patio and indoors, the Hitch Studio team was busy taking down the ceremony chairs and replacing that outdoor lawn space with their dance floor — so they could dance under the stars! It still never rained.
At the end of the evening, as we were all reflecting on how perfectly this day turned out despite some late minute changes, I think Emily said it best: “It was meant to be. We couldn’t have planned it to be any better than this!”
I think Emily and Tucker would agree — that if you’re planning to have an outdoor ceremony or reception, hiring a wedding planner can save you some stress when it’s time to make that rain call. Tucker and the guys hung the bistro lights, Hitch Studio placed the chairs, the rental company delivered extra tables and patio heaters, and it all came together. It was a team effort, led by patience, flexibility, and two big, generous, thankful hearts that got married that day.
Your day was PERFECT, Emily and Tucker!! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it! Take a look at some of their beautiful photos below.
