About Party Depot
Party Depot is a 14,000 square-foot party retail and rental store located downtown Brookings at 410 Main Avenue, Brookings, SD. Regular business hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
For special event and wedding rentals, they welcome walk-ins but do prefer appointments to give their full attention.
They are the go-to location for all things special events in the Brookings area! They have three general areas of merchandise: Party supplies, costumes, and rentals. The main level includes all the party supplies – paper products (disposable plates, cups, napkins, and utensils), party décor for any occasion (birthdays, bachelorette, baby and bridal), greeting cards, and most importantly balloons galore! They have helium balloons in a large variety of colors, styles and themes for all occasion but also are pros at making balloon bouquets and arches to accent any party!
The basement is full of all thing’s costumes – year-round. Peak season for this department is in the fall around Halloween, but you’ll find all dress-up necessities here. Carrying a full inventory of child and adult costumes; wigs, hats, and face-paint to complete any look!
The upper level and back of the store is dedicated to rentals for weddings and special events including tables, chairs, linens, runners, napkins, arches, backdrops, food and beverage necessities (glass plates and glasses, silverware, utensils, chaffers and beverages dispensers), dessert stands, artificial florals and greenery, candles and all kinds of vases and candle holders for centerpiece décor and more.
History of Party Depot
This year, Party Depot is entering its 24th year of business! Cheryl Meyer, the owner of Party Depot, has a background of various job in sales and retail management with a degree from South Dakota State University in Textiles and Retail. The business venture began when Cheryl and her husband were part of a family business – Rental Depot. They started with a few party rentals and party supplies, combined with construction rental equipment. Eventually, the business grew, and they decided to separate the two businesses – focusing on the party supplies and event rentals with Party Depot. The business found a few locations before landing in its current home of 16-years.

“While you do have several responsibilities once you have invited all those guests to your wedding, don’t lose track of your personal style. Before you meet with a planner, do some research, and put some thought into defining your style and identify items and services that are most important to you during your wedding experience. Identify your expectations of your wedding.”

What’s new for Party Depot
Going forward into this new year they are excited to have purchased some new rental decor items (including new dance floors!) to expand their collection to 1,000+ rental options. Most of their additions are a result of requests and opinions of the brides they have worked with. They are excited to hear more new ideas this year as we listen to what 2024-2025 brides are looking for.
