Each pro has their specialty and when we work together, we can bring a dream wedding to life – knowing every details is handled with the highest priority and best products and services. Although we have a full decor collection available to our couples, we love working with Ideal to create the dream wedding they want; allowing full customization for a wedding with tents, tables, chairs, linens and many more event rentals!

ABOUT

Ideal Tent & Event Rentals is a premier provider of tents, event decor, linens, custom draping, and event production throughout the upper Midwest. Our tents and rentals have played host to events in South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota (and beyond!) for nearly 20 years, and our retail storefront has been a fixture in the Sioux Falls community for over 70. Our experienced team is passionate about providing knowledgeable and intentional service to our customers, and through our collaborative infrastructure, we relish the opportunity to take on unique, challenging, or one-of-a-kind work. With an ever-growing inventory of style-conscious and industry-forward rentals, we strive to be the ideal place to plan your next event!

Ideal Tent & Event Rental storefront and warehouse is in Tea, South Dakota, right off the interstate! Normal business hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We warmly welcome anyone that would like to stop in during business hours to browse our retail store or our rental inventory. We have a beautiful Design Room in our storefront that has full-sized samples of all our linen offerings, as well as all our tabletop and place setting options on display for customer use as they’re designing their dream event table spaces. Our entire rental inventory is available to view on our website.

TEAM

Our owner and President is Blake Dede and we have a full time team of about 12 employees, as well as many cherished seasonal employees that join us for the height of our season (roughly May-September).

HISTORY

Ideal has a super interesting origin story, and we’re extremely thankful that the Sioux Falls area has been a strong supporter of the many iterations of our business throughout the years.

The short version of our story is that we were founded in 1946 as a lawn mower repair store that eventually expanded to add hardware, and then baking and partyware offerings. When Blake Dede took over Ideal Wedding (as it was known at the time) in the early 2000’s we were offering some small party rentals, and Blake eventually added tents, linens, and other larger rental items. We’ve slowly expanded our services over time to our current size, servicing a 5-state region, with an inventory that includes many different styles of tents, as well as linens, furniture, tabletop, decor, and more!

WHAT’S NEW!

In 2023 we expanded our tent offerings to include Clearspan structure tents to our inventory with the option for a standard white top OR a clear vinyl top. This has been an exciting addition to our inventory which has carried forward into 2024.

We’ve also added several different dance floor options to our inventory, and we’re seeing customers get extremely creative with their dance floors, including checkerboard style floors, “bulls-eye” pattern floors, and striped dance floors.

The last addition I’ll mention is that we have been working to increase our in-stock specialty linen inventory (velvets, sequins, textured linens, etc.) as we’ve seen more and more customers who are wanting to bring another level of intentionality and customization to their tabletops and overall event design. Having these options readily available in our warehouse, without a shipping fee, makes that option more affordable and accessible for our customers.

THE “IDEAL” CUSTOMER

Our “IDEAL” couple or client is someone who is kind, intentional with their choices, and mostly, someone who is just so excited to be celebrating their milestone event(s) with their nearest and dearest. Our motto at Ideal is, “Celebrating the moments that matter” and we really try to take that message to heart. Our entire team has a very real understanding that the “contracts” and “jobs” that fill our work week are, in actuality, extremely special and important life events for our customers. We don’t take that lightly, and we truly do celebrate the success of these events right along with them.

#1 TIP TO COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING

Our #1 tip would be, “You get what you pay for.” So, while we’re super aware (and sympathetic!) to the fact that the costs of a wedding can add up very quickly, we’d also advise that the vendors and service providers that have a reputation for being “the best” generally earned that reputation for a reason. Sometimes choices or services that can seem like a “deal” initially, end up costing you time, energy, heartache, or money in the long run. All that said, we really do have an amazing network of very talented wedding professionals in our area. Find someone you trust and enjoy working with, and they should be able to steer you toward others that will be a good fit for you and your event.

EXPERIENCE WITH WEDDING PLANNERS

We love, LOVE working with a wedding planner! We find that working with a good planner is a benefit to EVERYONE involved in the event — customer, vendors, and support staff alike. The seamlessness of communication between vendors, the intentional oversight so that nothing slips through the cracks, the complete efficiency that a wedding planner adds to all aspects of the day simply cannot be overstated.
